Hello Simba, Just today i was introduced to the pagalguy.com community by one of my friends. I read a couple of the blogs and i must say TOO GOOD! fantastic effort! In many aspects i would call it a brief of "How to get into Top MBA Programs" by Richard Montauk! I used the book and found it very useful....had i been introduced to pagalgay earlier i might have not gone for the book maybe.....not taking any credit away from the book, which has been tremendously helpful.....just giving credit to pagalguy:))
I am an admit at the Stanford GSB. Right now i am going through the get-worried-get-ready-get-anxious-for-visa stage. i found the listing of docs for visa quiet helpful........but could surely do with more details. For instance, when you are funding your entire 2 years through loan(except for 20% fellowship from univ) what questions could u get from the visa interviewer about repayment.... ?....... and what answers are best....? also to what tune do i need to show personal funds, now that i am not taking any money from here....?
i have many more questions, these are just the initial ones. Could you help me out here please? I am based in Bangalore......would be nice to be part of the pagalguy community. are there many from Bangalore....how do i become a part of it? do let me know Simba. Will be a big help! Thank you very much in advance.
Hey Chaitra,
Congrats on the Stanford Admit. Awesome!! U have cracked into one of the best schools & toughest schools!! :-)
Visa should not at all be a concern becos I am sure the officer will be impressed by ur admit!! :-) Abt repayment, tell him about ur current salary & how much u expect after MBA working in India .. do a bit of math & tell him, u shld be able to repay the loan in 7 yrs max. Personal funds, just show however much u have.. like parents & ur savings. Dont try to hike up something u dont have... just be confident while u answer the questions! Show the funds u have as per
ur I20.
tell urself, that u have made it to ace school & dont let some person in the visa office to keep u out!! :-)
Any other specifics, pls write to me!! And hey, u can join the community anytime. Just start posting on the forum & also become active with the Bangalore community group... PM me on the forum if u need exact details. :-)
Thanks & best of luck!! Simba
Thanks Simba! Thanks for your input....i shall do the math and come up with some convincing figures. How would it be if i said that I am part of a company (as a founder partner) and the revenues from here would also contribute to my loan repayments.....? and worst come worst i can take up a job and repay my debt....? will this be feasible or would it be better if i stick to the earlier fixed-job fixed-salary line? Also realistically how much could i quote my salary as post MBA.....i know the average american salary i can expect.....but not sure about the indian salary. any ideas here? Cheers.
Hey there! Otherwise u can realistically say that, in Infy, lets say u make about 4 lkhs.. currently if u change ur job, u can get a decent hike of 6-7 lkhs. After an MBA from India, then maybe, ur salary will be easily 10-12 lakhs. So, after an International MBA, that too from Stanford, u should easily make 20-24 lkhs. Saying this, repaying a 60 lkhs is no big deal!! :-) Hope u get the flow... Dont fret about a damn visa... u have made it to an awesome school... dont let some guys keep u out!! :-)
Hi Simba, I read your blog on the 20 year passport and I need some help from you. I'm also holding a 20 year passport with a US b1/b2 tourist visa. I'm applying for fall 2006 and was wondering if it is necessary to change the passport prior to issuing the student visa? Please advice me on whether or not I'll get the visa on the current 20 years passport and whether its worth the effort to change to a new passport.
Now, I dont think u need a 10 year one. 20 should be fine.. but look it up on the web on some US visa website!
