IHunt
Ok, now this is my online calender. As I said in Internship Rambling post, my time is running out. Today is March 20 and I am leaving on Global Travel Program on May 7th. So, the remaining days are all I have to get to the bottom (err, or is it the top!?) of this Internship Hunt. I will make everyday listing of what I have done and whether there is a glimmer of hope. Stay with me and you will know how gruesome it can get! 
Why am I doing this, dragging you guys through this… well, nothing personal.. but hey, you need to know the complete picture, dont ya!? And also, there are days which get to me when I am down because I feel stuck and stagnating and dont wish to do any of the work! But with this online, I will be atleast punctual in writing in.. even if it says, Apr-2nd, slept all through the day and dreamt about accepting my job offer! 
- Mar-20: I mailed 3 people in E, 3 in A and 4 in Y! All these are alums, ofcourse. I also emailed one small firm which does some wireless consulting! And 1 person from A already replied back asking for more details. Hmmm.
- Mar-21: Okai, I heard from 2 people at A saying that they have already filled in internship positions.
I attended the talk hosted by the guy behind Triangle StartUp Watch. He had some ideas if we are interested in small start-ups. Well, I wouldnt mind some sexy technology startups. Another avenue to explore. I emailed guys at D and S and Av who have interviewed me and not gotten back! I need to know! I also emailed 4 guys at B. And, I got some hope in the form of an old friend who is kinda doing some job-hunt for me! Crossed fingers! - Mar-22: I told ya, things will get to me! I didnt do anything today.. am too sore from 4 shots!
- Mar-23: I replied to 3 of the alums who got back to me with some more information. One of the events organized (that I was hinging upon!) with local start ups was cancelled and I felt sick. I wrote to a friend’s friend who works in an amazing place, N, after he graduated from God knows where! Fingers crossed! Applied to SW and also wrote in an extra note. Applied to E and wrote to the concerned alum too! Phew! Yeah, sent in a mail to R too! Hopefully, atleast the last works out!
- Mar-24: Hmm… just had a lengthy conversation with another B-school student from Kelley about how he went about his i-hunt! As everyone says, there are no definite means… its just a matter of right timing!
- Mar-25: Got hold of a few old business cards and surfed like mad to get some details about consulting firms still hiring. Didnt mail anyone though!
- Mar-26: Emailed some contact in a pretty high position which I came across through a family friend. Emailed another contact in R as the first person didnt write back! Voila, second person replied in a minute and I applied online for the same positions. More info awaited. Also applied to L and wrote to alums at L. Fingers crossed!
- Mar-27: Just a couple of followups. Nothing significant.
- Mar-28: Not in a great mood. Just mailed a few follow ups.
- Mar-29: Wrote some 3 follow-ups. Applied to 3 new openings and wrote back to one alum who has been exceedingly nice to me
- Mar-30: Finally, I get somewhere, Phew! Hear back from the good alum who says he will go and ‘break some heads’ for me The L looks thro, it came thro.. I will be talking to them on Monday, sexy opportunity. Crossed eyes Heard back from that friend’s friend I was telling ya about.. got some work on that! Atleast theres something to look upto!
- Mar-31: Confirmed timings for Monday. Heard from a start-up, they said, they will get back to me next week. Not sure, whether I am crazy about that! Applied to quite a few positions online, SP, KP, AN and BA
- Apr-1: Just spoke an alum from A where they said that the internship hunt is over. But its was good talking to her. Got quite some info, incase I want to get back there for full time. Need to look up stuff for Monday!
- Apr-2: Sent the Thankyou note to the alum I spoke to yesterday. Tried some of the contacts she had mentioned but hit a deadend. Did some reading for tomorrow. Mailed the HR at D, from whom I still havent heard about my interview result. And also, wrote to the HR at that amazing place, N, I told ya about. Crossing my fingers for tomorrow.. if I get the opportunity at L, I will be thrilled!
- Apr-3: The interview went on well and I was informed that there might be another couple of rounds. But I was kinda disappointed that it was not for the position that I had initially aimed for, anyway, I might still have a choice if I make the cut. And 10 mins later, I got a mail confirming my 2nd round schedule. It will be day after tomorrow. So, I didnt do anything else today!
- Apr-4: Nothing much to report today. I am yet to prepare for tomorrow’s interview. I heard back from P which I had applied almost 2 months back.. yeah, the alum actually went and broke some heads But looks like they are still reviewing my Resume.. GOD, help me here! And heard back from R that the position that I had applied is already filled up, but they will look at my app for some other position
- Apr-5: Feeling pretty down The interview was scheduled at 1 pm and I was waiting for the phone call… about 1:10, gotto know it is rescheduled due to some problems. Scheduled the same for 4 pm .. again got a call saying that the interviewer could not get out of the meeting! So, Dunno when it will be rescheduled. Hope I can get this thing done with tomorrow! Also, heard from P, one of the great firms I was gunning at that they are done with hiring bit. Even the great alum who was so ardently following this up cannot do much at this point I havent done anything else, should apply to M.. but though I was in no mood, I did! One of the firms I had applied wrote back asking for even more detailed, structured, tailored cover letter… What! I have no energy today Life sucks
- Apr-6: Back to random applying. Applied to TW, In and Eb. I know all this is futile but still.. I just heard from L that we can have the second round on Monday. Time not yet fixed. Heard back from M, the one I applied yesterday, saying that they will consider my resume next week. Hmmph!
- Apr-7: Confirmed my second round timings with L on Monday. Attended a intro for Mentored Study at Fuqua with one of the entrepreneurs around NC. I think its a nice option to follow if I dont get anywhere. I may not get paid as I will be getting a course credit for the same. So, now, atleast I dont have to worry about not having anything in hand! Applied to LMS project and sent a more tailored letter to Eb! Feeling soooo low…
- Apr-8: Nothing!
- Apr-9: Nothing! Time is running out! Anticipation is killing… Now I have less than a month’s time for finalizing my internship. Hopefully, tomorrow’s interview will turn out just fine!
- Apr-10: Finished the interview. Didnt go the way I had wanted it to. Sometimes, things are just not meant to happen I guess…the line was so bad and the interviewer was so soft spoken that I literally had to strain myself to hear her. I dont think I was feeling that great to do a smashing job either. She said, they will get back to me next week which in itself doesnt sound that exciting! Applied to Ke, Af and GG, all are kinda start up opportunities, lets see how things will turn out!
- Apr-11: Heard from L that I need to schedule my 3rd round! I have given them Friday time, lets see! That put my mind to rest and temporary blissful numbness.. And I didnt apply anywhere else
- Apr-12: Got tentative interview timings for Friday. Hopefully, I can get this done and nail it too. Shoot a prayer for me, plzzz. I had managed to schedule another interview for a small start up ‘Ex’ for today and I sat down with this man for almost 2 hrs as we went thro’ a lot of company details. Its a lot of work and fun work too, something I would love but there are a couple of issues I am not so happy about! He pretty much liked me and said I could join.. but I need to wait for others to fall into place. Lets see how that goes! At least I will have something to do at Ex even if I land up nowhere! Followed up on Eb & wrote in to find out whether they even got my Resume! They have & they are looking thro.. Phew!Wrote to R to find out whats happening as I can still see them looking for interns on the job-board for the position that I have applied for! They wrote back saying that, they already have their candidate but that person has still not accepted.. Hmmph! Got an official Ding from D, one of the 3 companies I hadnt heard back! I am fine with it as the job profile was not that great and maybe the lack of enthusiasm shows off in the interview. Neutral feeling about D!
- Apr-13: Got a more detailed mail about tomorrow’s interview! God, are you listening! Pl let this fall into place! Its just awesome! Also, applied to CC, just in case
- Apr-14: The interview went on fantastic! Couldnt have expected anything better! When I walked out, I was pretty confident that I might actually get the job… but now, on introspection, I am having doubts. Isnt it always true, u tend to over analyse! Hmmph! Hopefully they will get back to me soon! In the hyper mood that I did well, I came home & applied to about 10 places.. LOL! I know, I am crazy! Dont even remember where all I did.
- Apr-15: Nothing.
- Apr-16: Applied to IC 06. Follow up email to the Alum at L saying that I have finished the 3rd round. Wrote to 2 alums at Hp which I had applied to day before. Applied online to TC, SB and DJ! Phew!
- Apr-17: I pretty much expected to hear back from L about my interview result! But was disappointed, I didnt hear anything & of course, the self doubts started emerging! IC 06 got back asking some time to talk to me today b/w 3-5 pm but they never called. Now, its set for tomorrow morning at 9 am. Sat down with some of the old visiting cards from a Career Fair and wrote to some people at Sp, NH & Rf. Also wrote to a job consultant I had met in the fair, asking.. rather pleading for help! Appied to Tk, Hd & Fx! Why is everything so hard for me?
- Apr-18th: Nothing to report!
- Apr-19th: HR at L got back to me. They had some queries with regards to my visa status etc. Ran around the entire place to give them all the information I had! They sure wanted to know all the details.
- Apr-20: Exactly a month when I started this page, Bang on! Just got a call and was given an offer to work with L. Yipeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank God!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Apr-26: As on today, my official online journal for i-hunt is closed! I have accepted to work with L, which is Lowe’s and hence dont see the need for this page anymore! *Silent prayers* I really wish I have a easier transition with my Post MBA aspirations!
