Hey blog, I have been a lil busy off late. About the amazing camp, I have made a small article and it is posted on PaGaLGuy.com but I am hoping that we get more influx of volunteers which will surely be a BIG BOON!! :-)

Hey the above article sure has its copyrights.. ok :-) No infringements ;-) .. Yes, have started prepping for GMAT. Right now, just getting used to sit in front of the book for an hr. Will slowly build it up. Also, the work front has not been so good. I am looking for a change.. either a different department or a different company altogether. I really hope something works out. Hey readers, pls help me out!!! Looking back, I have almost been doing the same work for more than a year, though resposibilities have steadily increased, guess after this, I really will start stalling!!! So, nows the time to MOVE ON….

More later…. :-)

Meeting up with Steve! August 23, 2004

Hey, my blog looks dull & empty.. just opp to what my life has been over the past few days :-)

Thursday the 19th was an amazing day. I had to catch up with Steve. He is basically a canadian who flew to Manchester from Mumbai. Yeah, I would have been his classmate if everything had worked out well!!! :-( Anyways, I met up with some of his pals from Canada, Germany & India. We were basically about 8 of us and had a great time. Its so easy to speak to open minded individuals. Though I thought some ‘firangs’ were shy, I was so pleasantly surprised to hit it off quite well!! The conversations went into careers, friends, MBA, post MBA, life at Europe, Cananda & US etc etc…I was thinking that had I been to MBS, I would have had so much great time always… but then again. I would also be slogging for that degree!!!

Next was a nice family gathering after a LOONG time… :-) I have been so away from my mother that just having her around feels so good. It almost feels like those goo’ ol’ times. Ya, but I was not able to do much on the GMAT front. I am planning to take it up in first week of Nov. Like hell, I am gonna give it my best!!! And by the looks of it, I am applying to only R2s.. guess, i do not have much choice on that front.

This Sunday was an amazing day.. a grand learning experience. I was out on a camp - a medical one which was organised by NASEOH. This camp was to screen the handicapped people and give various kinds of treatments, diagnosis etc etc. Also, the no. of wheel chairs, crutches, cycles etc etc was taken. Next month would be a followup camp. I cant really say how I felt… but serving people at the grassroots really overwhelms you.

More details about this camp will come up later, if possible with pictures. I am also planning a small write up for PaGaLGuY to post on its website.

NASEOH August 10, 2004

It so amazing to so many people willing to create a difference in others lives. Its really heatening. Firstly, there is the voluntary service we are doing for NASEOH. Every Sunday, a group of us assemble at NASEOH - National Society for providing Equal Oppurtunities for the Handicapped. Every week there is something new to discover & learn.. to look close at things that we take for granted.

A lot of our pals at NASEOH are partially/ completely handicapped.. they are deaf, dumb, physically & mentally disabled etc etc. But then you must see the kind of co-operation they have. Each of them are always ready to help others. For eg. if someone is not able to lean to pick something, somebody will rush to assist them. Its great to see such humane qualities that we so lack!!! I have an aunt who is physically disabled & she always told me that whatever GOD hasnt given, HE has made up in so many ways. The NASEOH guys are extremely sharp and they are such fast-learners. As on today, we are able to teach them, computer basics, internet basics, netwoking, vedic maths … slowly moving onto html coding. They love designing web pages with different hues & styles. It great to see them huddled around a computer aligning & de-aligning the texts :-) .

Now, after some lengthy discussions, we have decided to conduct some English speaking courses for them. And slowly progress onto something like personality development like confidence building, public speaking etc. For the English course, we as in PaGaLGuYs are looking at some structured material which can be taught each weekend and over which they all can work over the week. We are planning to meet some institutes who will be ready to help us in terms of giving their procedures etc etc. I know, its too much to ask for but its just worth a shot. :-) All the NASEOH guys are very comfortable with Marathi & Hindi. Though they can understand English completely, they are shy.. that is something we need to work on. Spoken English will def help them all their lives. Lets see how we can put up a show :-)

Secondly, its about Hyderabadis effort. I will speak about that in length in the next blog.

Life is weird! August 6, 2004

My dearest Blog,

I am extremely sorry that I treat u this way. I really hope u dont take it personally. U see the problem was not U.. it was me. I was not able to update u becos I was going thro’ a lot of things.. as in thoughts, decisions, confusions etc. Maybe, if u were animate, u could have understood but well.. at this point, U really have no choice. :-)

My life these days are pretty calm.. Its almost like the scene after the storm. But hey, I am not sure, it could be the lull right before the tornado :-) . I have updated my status at MBS. All my future pals were extremely disturbed that Simba is not gonna be there. I was really looking forward to meet some of them. Over the months, I have interacted with these guys & they seem to be the kind of ppl u want to be in touch with - some strong, opinionated individuals.

A nice thing is - I have made a good pal. Hes from Canada & though he is joining the school this fall, hes making a quick tour to India. One of those things that ppl do before they go in to face their death sentences in a B School :-) So, hopefully, I shld be able to meet him the coming week in Mumbai.
